‘CPA’ – does is stand for Chartered Professional accountant, or Certified Public Accountant?

It can be confusing, we know that. 

‘Chartered Professional Accountant’ is an accreditation based in Canada only, while the ‘Certified Public Accountant’ is the term used in the United States.  Both are accounting certifications.
